Our Reins to Hope program is a faith based horsemanship program. The program was developed while our trainer, Talia Dodd, was pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Christian Studies. While completing the degree, Talia received numerous inquiries from parents about therapy riding. While therapy riding was not something we did, the idea came about to offer a different type of program and service for youth and adults who were interested in pursuing an additional or supplemental option for their mental wellbeing journey. The program seeks to foster internal change by uniting the Holy Spirt and horses. It functions similarly to traditional riding lessons with recommended weekly sessions, but focuses on all around horsemanship. We try to schedule these sessions as a group lesson with 2-3 individuals per group to promote fellowship and a community environment. As it is horsemanship, not every session will be in the saddle. Sessions may involve ground work and other activities instead. We believe that there is much to learn about horses and our relationship with Christ through not just riding, but non-riding experiences with our horses as well.
In addition to the hands on experience with the horses, our program also dives into some Scripture study and utilizes the use of a journal for students to take home and work on weekly.
